Centene believes that a corporate citizen is much more than a philanthropist or a community leader. Being a respectable corporate citizen is about the way we conduct our business each and every day. At Centene, we take our responsibility as a leader in the Medicaid managed care industry very seriously. We value our responsibilities to our employees, our members and our providers as much as the aspirations of our shareholders and the wider society of which we are a part.
Centene's approach to corporate citizenship touches all aspects of our company. Even our business model, which supports local, independently branded business entities, is in place to cultivate corporate citizenship. For more than 20 years, we have been conducting business with the following objectives in mind, which we believe are core to being a good corporate citizen:
- Community investment
- Philanthropic work
- Staff development
- Corporate governance, transparency and accountability
Centene demonstrates this commitment through two foundations:
The Centene Charitable Foundation
The Centene Charitable Foundation provides charitable support for community initiatives that improve the quality of life and health in communities in which Centene Corporation does business.
The Centene Foundation for Quality Healthcare
Centene places great value in our strong provider relationships and work to continue this commitment. An important means to support physicians and research will be handled by the Centene Foundation for Quality Healthcare. The Foundation was established to improve the quality, access, effectiveness and value of healthcare for low-income families and individuals. In addition, building on our long-standing commitment to deliver healthcare at the local level, the Foundation will develop partnerships to implement innovative approaches to promote healthy communities.
