Serving the Military Community

At Centene, we are honored to help nearly three million military families and veterans access high-quality and affordable healthcare services, and our commitment to the military community goes even further.

As a corporate citizen, we understand the unique needs of the nation’s military community. Centene is an employer that engages military service members seeking to transfer their skills to civilian life or embark on a new career, and we’ve been recognized for our support of employees who serve in the U.S. Military Guard and Reserves. We are also proud of our partnerships with military organizations, which enable Centene to support a wide range of needs that veterans and military families face.

Centene fosters an environment that helps transitioning service members, veterans, and their families re-enter and succeed in the workplace. Across the enterprise, we promote participation in CENVET, our Veterans and Military Families Employee Inclusion Group. CENVET has two goals: to provide support and resources for employees who have served in the armed forces and their families, and to advise the company on issues relevant to the military community, such as employment, recruitment, and retention.

Leadership Across the Enterprise

Centene is proud of our employees who have defended our nation, as well as their family members. Each day, these skilled employees provide our workforce with leadership capabilities, a strong work ethic, and dedication to Centene’s mission. Their valued contributions can be found across the enterprise, including at the highest levels of leadership. Retired U.S. Air Force General Lori J. Robinson serves on Centene's Board of Directors and is a member of its Governance Committee and Compensation and Talent Committee.

Through Centene's support, TAPS provides surviving family members and loved ones with a national peer support network and connections to grief resources, all at no cost. The Washington Center (TWC) for Internships and Academic Seminars provides a bridge between higher education and professional careers. Through Centene’s support, TWC’s Veterans Employment Trajectory (VET) Initiative provides 25 veterans from colleges nationwide full scholarships to attend a 10-week summer internship program in Washington, D.C. The program helps student veterans compete for quality jobs, transition to civilian employment, succeed in careers, and lead in the civilian workplace.

Centene also supports the Great Falls College—Montana State University (GFC MSU) Veteran Support Center. The center is a vibrant option for GFC MSU veterans, their spouses, and their dependents to get the services they need to be successful in both the classroom and in their future careers. Centene supports the center’s veteran recruitment, and helps with the cost of study materials and technology based study tables, while offering a place of camaraderie, which leads to strong retention and keeps the veteran population on track to graduate.
