July 26 is National Disability Independence Day, recognizing the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This landmark legislation broke down barriers faced by individuals with disabilities, making workplaces and communities more accessible.

Centene has long recognized the importance of a workplace that provides a supportive and accessible environment for all employees. Our National Disability Advisory Council is composed of national leaders in disability advocacy who focus on developing companywide recommendations and initiatives that advance disability inclusion across our workforce and healthcare solutions.

Centene recently received a top score of 100% in the 2023 Disability Equality Index® (DEI) — making this our sixth consecutive year. The index, a comprehensive benchmarking tool that measures disability inclusion in the workplace, is a joint initiative by Disability:IN® and the American Association of People with Disabilities. Centene also was named a 2022 Leading Disability Employer by the National Organization on Disability for the third consecutive year.

Our People with Disabilities & Caregivers Employee Inclusion Group ABILITY furthers our commitment by expanding disability cultural competency through education, engagement, accessibility, talent enhancement and community involvement. Learn more about how our Employee Inclusion Groups (EIG) work to engage employees and communities of all cultures and backgrounds. Centene employees do not have to be a member of any specific community to join an EIG.
