An Enabled Workforce

People with disabilities make up the third-largest market segment in the United States, according to the United States Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. As our workforce continues to span multiple generations, we also recognize the value and contributions of a multigenerational workforce and the importance of supporting employees throughout all stages of their careers. By ensuring equal access to employment opportunities for everyone, including individuals with disabilities and employees of all ages, our workforce encompasses a broad range of lived experiences that help us address our members’ needs. Just as we are committed to hiring the most qualified talent, Centene is equally committed to an inclusive workplace where employees of all ages and abilities can succeed.

Centene National Disability & Aging Advisory Council

To help provide a supportive environment for people with disabilities and address the needs of a multigenerational workforce and population, Centene worked with key leaders in the disability and aging advocacy communities to establish a council to develop an inclusion framework for our employees, members, providers and suppliers. The Centene National Disability & Aging Advisory Council (CNDAAC) includes leaders in disability and aging advocacy who develop recommendations and propose initiatives that advance disability inclusion, support healthy aging and strengthen Centene’s workforce and healthcare solutions.

“It is a privilege to work alongside leaders from the disability and aging communities who bring deep expertise and lived experience to this Council. Together, we are helping shape a future where Centene can better serve people across all stages of life as a healthcare company, employer, and community partner.”

National Employer Recognition

As a result of our approach to inclusion of people with disabilities in our workplace, we have been named one of the best places to work for people with disabilities by the Disability Equality Index (DEI®) for eight consecutive years.

The Disability Equality Index is a joint initiative by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). Developed by the group’s advisory committee, a diverse collaborative of business leaders, policy experts, and disability advocates, the Index is a national, transparent, annual benchmarking tool that offers businesses an opportunity to receive an objective score on their disability inclusion policies and practices.
